Android Software Engineer β Team Lead
Job Description
Based in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, Johnson Health Tech North America Inc offers a stable, collaborative environment for Android software engineering and leadership. This onsite role blends hands on development with team leadership, guiding a 4 to 6 person Android group through the Digital Product Development process to deliver high quality fitness console software on time and within budget. You will collaborate with Product Owners and Global R&D to translate market needs into actionable technical work, while fostering a culture centered on quality and continuous improvement. This position is 100% onsite.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Engineering Manager in recruiting high caliber engineers
- Guides engineers under supervision with clear direction
- Trains team members on the companys product development methodologies
- Collaborates with engineers to achieve KPI targets
- Acts as the primary communications liaison across global software teams
- Establishes consistent task tracking and scheduling practices for worldwide software teams
- Offers technical leadership to global software teams
- Aligns software development with overall NPD priorities and product development goals
- Partners with software teams to ensure bidirectional support for product development
- Converts marketing requirements into actionable technical tasks for the R&D group
- Leads individual development projects as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or another technical field
- 3 to 5 years of Android development experience
- Prior mentoring or team leadership experience is required
- 7 to 10 years of object oriented programming in C++, C#, or Java
- At least 6 years of UI based application development
- Minimum 2 years of built in and integration unit testing experience
- Approximately 5 years writing or editing technical documentation
- Approximately 5 years in project sustaining or product lineage
- At least 2 years of project architecting in a team environment
- Willingness to travel internationally and domestically and to communicate with overseas teams during non business hours
- Ability to work well with diverse groups and individuals
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of engineers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
