Android Software Engineer

The Android Software Engineer will participate in software development for fitness consoles alongside global R&D teams, assisting with requirements, improving quality, and onboarding new engineers. This onsite role in Cottage Grove, WI leads by example and proactively resolves engineering challenges, with a typical minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Foster a positive, engaging, and interesting work environment
• Provide input in sprint ceremonies to empower the software team to contribute to the development process
• Understand and participate in improving all Johnson Development Processes
• Mentor teammates to help them understand these processes
• Advocate for quality software development practices, documentation, and testing within the team
• Lead individual development projects as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another technical field
• 3-5 years of programming in native Android using Java or Kotlin
• 5 years of object oriented programming in languages such as C++, C#, or Java
• 4 years of UI based application development
• 2 years with built-in and integration unit testing
• 3 years writing or editing technical documentation
• 3 years of project sustainment or inheritance experience
• Experience in project architecting
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally and domestically
• Ability and willingness to communicate with overseas teams during non-business hours
• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups and individuals
• Ability to mentor junior engineers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
