1LMX PPM UDE-Starburst Data Engineer / Software Engineer, Sr

Location: Bethesda, MD (remote). Salary: USD 107,300 - 185,840 per year. Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain a data platform with Starburst/Trino at its core
• Provide secure and performant data access across diverse sources including object storage, relational databases, and streaming systems
• Manage infrastructure as code for data and platform services
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for the data platform and deployments
• Apply DevSecOps best practices to ensure secure, reliable operations
• Optimize query performance, cost, and reliability across distributed environments
• Collaborate with governance, security, and product teams to ensure compliance and data trust
• Support and evolve the UDE to enable self-service analytics and broader data access

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in data engineering and/or DevSecOps
• Strong experience with Starburst Enterprise, Trino, or Presto
• Proficiency with advanced Linux scripting and at least one programming language; Red Hat 8 administration and Ansible preferred
• Experience with Iceberg, Hive, or similar table formats
• Solid understanding of distributed query engines and data architectures
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform or similar IaC tools
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python or similar)
• Experience implementing data security, access controls and governance at scale
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning abilities
• U.S. Citizenship is required
