Job Description

Stanford University seeks a skilled full‑stack Web Developer to help design, implement, and deploy the LEVANTE platform’s researcher dashboards and web experiments. This role, based in Stanford, California with remote or hybrid work options, is a 100% FTE, one‑year fixed‑term exempt appointment that may be renewed.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the LEVANTE researcher dashboard to enable management of web experiments involving children.
  • Develop, test, and deploy web experiments on the LEVANTE platform from concept through production.
  • Collaborate with experimental psychologists to refine core features and the user interface to maximize usefulness for researchers.
  • Contribute to the internationalization of web experiments on LEVANTE.
  • Plan and deliver web applications and websites from initial design to deployment.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain content management systems, including Stanford‑specific modules.
  • Assess third‑party modules for functionality, accessibility, security, and maintainability.
  • Provide selected website administration duties for existing clients and ensure web server and site performance.
  • Create web pages and tools for Stanford sites using core technologies.
  • Produce clean, well‑structured, SEO‑friendly, documented code and evolve existing codebases.
  • Offer expertise in both front‑ and back‑end web development.
  • Support web infrastructure with end‑user support, maintenance, product evaluation, back‑end development, and internal tools.
  • Translate design and layout into a visually integrated, contemporary user experience across devices.
  • Ensure consistent appearance and behavior across browsers and screens, while optimizing content presentation.
  • Collaborate with a content manager to create animated GIFs, static buttons, and email/landing page assets.
  • Work with site architects to document functional specifications based on stakeholder requirements.
  • Support lifecycle processes and assist in planning upgrades or migrations for the CMS as needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES5/ES6), HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Familiarity with Vue.js (preferred) or React, Angular, or similar modern frameworks.
  • Experience with Firebase services including Firestore, Authentication, and Hosting.
  • Knowledge of modern development tools such as Git.
  • Experience consuming and designing RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with experimental psychology or related behavioral research disciplines.
  • At least 1+ year of Vue.js experience, including components and the composition API.
  • Ability to write efficient, secure, clean, and scalable JavaScript/TypeScript code.
  • Provide a link to a publicly accessible GitHub pull request with significant web development contributions.
