Job Description

The Creative Agency is seeking a Web Designer & Developer (Full-Time) to design and build polished, responsive websites for clients in Fort Collins, Colorado. This role spans WordPress and Shopify development, translating Figma and brand direction into production-ready experiences with a strong focus on UX, e-commerce usability, technical SEO, accessibility, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop polished, responsive websites in WordPress and Shopify.
  • Translate Figma designs, brand systems, and creative direction accurately into production.
  • Customize themes and frameworks well beyond their original appearance.
  • Build sophisticated page layouts with strong typography, hierarchy, spacing, and visual rhythm.
  • Collaborate with strategy, brand, design, content, digital marketing, and production teams.
  • Refine UX/UI decisions throughout the development process.
  • Use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript when page builders or native theme settings are not sufficient.
  • Create purposeful animations, transitions, and interactions that enhance the experience without overwhelming it.
  • Ensure strong performance and usability across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
  • Manage website QA across browsers, devices, and screen sizes.
  • Support technical SEO, accessibility, and website performance best practices.
  • Maintain, update, and improve existing client websites; troubleshoot technical issues and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Bring ideas and recommendations rather than waiting for instructions.

Shopify and E-Commerce Responsibilities

  • Build and customize Shopify storefronts using modern Shopify themes and Online Store 2.0.
  • Create and refine product, collection, landing, and content templates.
  • Customize Shopify themes beyond standard theme settings; use Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript where appropriate.
  • Structure product collections, navigation, filters, and merchandising experiences.
  • Build high-converting product detail pages with clear hierarchy, product storytelling, and purchase pathways.
  • Configure metafields, metaobjects, and reusable content structures.
  • Set up product variants, collections, related products, bundles, and promotional experiences.
  • Evaluate and implement Shopify apps while avoiding an unnecessarily bloated technology stack.
  • Integrate third-party tools as needed (email marketing, analytics, tracking, reviews, subscriptions, fulfillment, and more).
  • Support integrations such as Klaviyo and other marketing tools.
  • Build campaign and product-launch landing pages and create promotional experiences for launches, seasonal campaigns, and major sales periods.
  • Improve cart, navigation, and purchase-flow UX.
  • Support Shopify migrations, redesigns, and ongoing optimization.
  • Troubleshoot theme, app, and front-end issues; monitor performance and identify speed and usability improvements.
  • Understand the relationship between e-commerce design, conversion rate, average order value, and customer experience.

WordPress Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated WordPress websites, particularly using Elementor Pro.
  • Build and customize Elementor systems, templates, and global styles.
  • Extend Elementor through custom CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • Customize themes and existing frameworks until the final product feels unique to the client.
  • Maintain plugins, integrations, and site functionality.
  • Improve website performance and troubleshoot conflicts.
  • Build landing pages and campaign experiences.
  • Support forms, CRM integrations, analytics, and marketing technology.
  • Manage staging environments, site migrations, launches, and ongoing maintenance.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of how websites work and how exceptional websites should look.
  • Attention to detail in typography and spacing.
  • Ability to design mobile experiences that are not just desktop layouts stacked vertically.
  • Experience designing e-commerce product pages around how people evaluate and purchase products, not only visual presentation.
  • Capacity to translate visual inspiration (editorial layout, luxury brand, architectural website, fashion campaign) into effective digital experiences.
  • Commitment to design that does not compromise usability, performance, or conversion.
  • Strongly preferred experience with: Shopify; Shopify Online Store 2.0; Shopify theme customization; Shopify Liquid; WordPress; Elementor / Elementor Pro; Figma; HTML; CSS; JavaScript; responsive web design; UX/UI fundamentals; e-commerce UX; technical SEO fundamentals; website performance optimization; accessibility best practices; cross-browser and cross-device testing; analytics and tracking implementation.
