Wargame Developer
Job Description
On site in Quantico, VA, this role centers on modernizing Marine Corps wargaming by shifting from traditional play to high fidelity digital tools that inform senior leaders. You will collaborate across analysts, designers, and developers to deliver practical capabilities that drive decision quality and help the customer advance along a digital maturity path.
Expect a hands-on, cross-disciplinary environment where your work shapes interfaces between analytical tools and gameplay, supports data-driven insights, and directly influences how wargaming informs strategic choices at the highest levels.
Responsibilities
- Create professional-grade physical player aids and reference guides, guiding their evolution into interactive digital interfaces.
- Build, operate, maintain, and archive simulation databases using government-provided modeling and simulation tools to enhance tabletop and digital exercises before and during wargame execution.
- Develop interfaces to modeling and simulation tools for gameplay, operate complex digital tools during wargame execution, and translate technical outputs into real-time insights for senior decision makers.
- Bridge the gap between analog play and digital environments, promoting the capabilities and usage methods of new tools to help the customer reach digital maturity.
- Assist analysts by developing tools to capture player decisions and telemetry across both formats, ensuring robust data for post-game reconstruction.
- Partner with designers and developers to refine mechanics that reflect Marine Corps capabilities while remaining intuitive for senior stakeholders, and lead the test and evaluation of game designs prior to gameplay.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in International Relations, Military Studies, Computer Science, or Data Science.
- Minimum four years of experience in wargaming, military modeling and simulation, or a related field.
- Alternatively, ten or more years of related experience may substitute for the degree.
- Technical toolkit experience with proficiency in graphic design and layout software (for example, Adobe Creative Cloud and PowerPoint) to produce professional-grade player aids and products.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, master, and operate new software-based modeling and simulation tools.
- Experience developing player-facing products, reference guides, or game mechanics manuals.
- Ability to provide examples of product development work such as reference guides or branded materials.

Clearance requirements
- Must have a current active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain SAP.
Physical requirements
- The role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position about 50% of the time. Occasional movement within the office or wargaming facility to access materials, operate office equipment, or communicate with colleagues and customers via email, phone, or virtual meetings, which may include delivering presentations.
