ICF is a global advisory and technology services provider, and this onsite role in Adelphi, MD supports the development and evaluation of machine learning cyber defense algorithms and resilience methods for resource constrained devices used in tactical environments.
You will work alongside scientists, software developers, and hardware engineers, applying DevOps best practices to build software for cyber defenses, simulation, and resilience testing. The role includes documenting outcomes through technical reports and presenting progress in technical briefings and demonstrations.
What you will do
- Develop software using DevOps best practices within a multi-discipline team of scientists, software developers, and hardware engineers.
- Build and refine dynamic evaluation scenarios using 3D simulation and visualization engines, such as Unreal Engine or similar tools.
- Support physical and network simulation and evaluate resilience in simulated tactical scenarios and during field tests.
- Document and publish test results in technical reports.
- Provide progress updates, insights, and deliverables through technical briefings and demonstrations.
- Contribute in a multi-team development project.
Required qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to maintain an active DoD clearance.
- Must be DoD 8570 compliant and maintain required certifications for an IAT I appointment.
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Science, Information Science, Cyber Security, or Mathematics.
- Six (6) years of research or technical experience in a scientific or technical field relevant to the role.
Skills and experience that help you succeed
- Python and Git: at least 2 years experience (3+ years preferred).
- Unreal Engine: at least 1 year experience.
- Databases: at least 1 year writing code to interact with databases.
- Linux environments: at least 1 year experience.
- Network simulation tools, such as ns-3.
- Strong knowledge of software development best practice.
- Ability to analyze, document, and publish technical reports based on testing.
Additional qualifications
- Familiarity with cyber security principles and terminology.
- Familiarity with UAV/UGV operation.
- Familiarity with radio frequency science and electronic warfare techniques or terminology.
- Familiarity with research environments such as scientific and technical writing and experiment design.
- Familiarity with DoD computing environment.

Pay range
$81,499.00 - $138,549.00 per year for full-time employment. Maryland Client Office (MD88).
