Job Description

Turnkey Developer role with Trane Technologies in King of Prussia, PA (onsite), focusing on identifying and developing turnkey HVAC contracting projects with internal teams and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates covering materials, subcontractors, purchased equipment, labor (including startup and service), and other construction activities to support Account Managers in bid development and pricing decisions.
  • Create detailed project scope aligned with design-build concepts provided by Account Managers or published plans for competitive bidding via contracting channels.
  • Generate thorough cost proposals featuring system diagrams, scope definitions, exclusions, preliminary proposals, supplier and subcontractor quotes, and a points list.
  • Gather project data essential to defining scope and assembling accurate estimates.
  • Use plans, specifications, and construction industry knowledge to assess project requirements and compile cost estimates.
  • Perform takeoffs and price purchased equipment ensuring accurate quantities, sizes, configurations, voltages, and options.
  • Review bid documents, site conditions, and subcontractor proposals to identify conflicts and constructability concerns.
  • Lead pre-bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope and bidding strategy.
  • Identify potential cost savings and risk items across projects; optimize costs by negotiating with vendors and subcontractors for materials and services.
  • Support Account Managers in assessing the need for outsourced engineering and coordinate with Operations/Fulfillment to control cost variations in labor, materials, and electrical subcontracting via pre-bid validation and post-mortems.
  • Offer critical technical support to pursue Trane opportunities, including participation on strategic capture teams.
  • Support acquisition efforts and initiatives to ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience.
  • 7 to 10 years of project management and or HVACR related experience.
  • Experience in construction estimating, bidding, and procurement.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems with understanding of HVAC operations, electrical systems, and temperature controls.
  • Understanding construction methods and ability to communicate with and direct subcontractors to obtain critical proposal information.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours, including weekends, with some travel and occasional overnight stays.
  • Valid driver's license for at least 12 months, with a clean driving record (no major or frequent violations such as DUI, hit and run, license suspension, reckless driving, or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years).
