Job Description

Xometry is hiring a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead Generative AI work for manufacturing-focused problems.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction for the Generative AI team, establish best practices, and drive high-impact innovation
  • Shape the AI roadmap by identifying high-value generative AI opportunities across the Xometry marketplace
  • Build and deploy large language and generative models for multimodal document processing and structured data extraction
  • Investigate approaches to combine text, images, and 3D data for smarter, faster solutions
  • Design data pipelines and training workflows capable of handling massive, complex datasets
  • Use AWS and other platforms to train, optimize, and deploy models into production at scale
  • Collaborate with engineers, product leaders, and business teams to integrate AI into real products and customer workflows
  • Mentor teammates on advanced ML methods, model architecture, and best practices to raise team capability
  • Stay current with generative AI and deep learning research and translate new ideas into production

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; M.S. or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or related field is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning or data science, with deep expertise in generative models, LLMs, or computer vision
  • Proven experience building with large-scale language and vision models including Transformers, GPT, and VLMs
  • Hands-on experience working with multimodal data: text, images, 3D
  • Proficiency in Python and core ML/data libraries including PyTorch, TensorFlow, pandas, and NumPy
  • Strong foundation in probability, statistics, and optimization for generative modeling
  • Experience deploying ML/AI models using cloud microservice architecture (AWS preferred)
  • Solid software engineering skills: object oriented programming, testing, version control, CI/CD best practices, and IaC (Terraform preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executives, product managers, and other stakeholders
  • Background in manufacturing or supply chain is a plus; curiosity and drive are emphasized
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder (ITAR compliance)

  • USD 140,000 - 230,000 per year
