Sr Software Engineer - Windows Applications
Job Description
A senior software engineer role focused on architecture, design, development, and testing of product software in a hybrid in-office arrangement in Andover, MA.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross functional teams of engineers and QA professionals to deliver reliable software across all development stages, from concept and design through integration, testing, and ongoing support
- Create software architectures, convert requirements into robust solutions, and produce well-tested, maintainable code
- Identify root causes of complex defects and resolve software issues independently
- Provide technical leadership by defining requirements, guiding design choices, and coaching team members
- Coordinate engineering work streams and drive on time delivery of modules and subsystems by setting clear goals
- Lead and perform unit, subsystem, and integration testing to ensure quality and reliability while promoting best testing practices across the team
- Support system level activities by partnering with clinical, quality, service, and test engineers to reproduce issues, run tests, and document findings in defect tracking systems
- Contribute to program planning, strategic initiatives, and ongoing process improvements across the organization
- Mentor junior engineers through technical coaching, code reviews, and constructive feedback
- Ensure compliance with internal SOPs and applicable FDA and industry regulations
- Maintain and enhance software development processes, tools, and configuration management practices
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of software design, analysis, and troubleshooting in an engineering environment, or 3 to 6 years with a Master’s degree
- Proven experience providing technical leadership within a complex software development environment
- Strong background in Windows application development, including Win32 and MFC
- Experience with Windows batch scripting
- Curiosity and ability to explore Windows internals to diagnose and resolve complex system behaviors
- Proficiency in C++ and Python
- Experience debugging applications using Visual Studio
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and UDP networking
- Ability to elicit, document, analyze, review, and trace software requirements

Details
Location: Andover, MA (hybrid) • Salary: USD 115,000 - 127,200 per year • Experience: 3+ years minimum; 5-8 years preferred, or 3-6 years with a Master’s degree • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
