Sr. Software Engineer (Forward Deployed Engineer)
Job Description
WellSky seeks a Sr. Software Engineer (Forward Deployed Engineer) to drive data and AI development, delivering impactful software solutions with a focus on elevating end-user teammate efficiency and experience. This onsite role is based in Overland Park, Kansas.
Responsibilities
- Consult with teammates to identify AI driven efficiency opportunities and translate them into practical software solutions.
- Lead the design and architecture of major systems and services to ensure they are scalable, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with business needs.
- Collaborate with business leaders and teammates to define and prioritize technical requirements that support business objectives.
- Work with cross functional teams to sustain quality and reliability, serving as a go to expert to resolve complex, high priority issues in development and production.
- Contribute to solution reviews, provide design and implementation feedback, and mentor other engineers to raise skills, productivity, and overall effectiveness.
- Drive innovation by evaluating and adopting new technologies, methodologies, and AI capabilities that improve team efficiency, software performance, and development processes.
- Ensure solutions meet functional and performance requirements, advocate for high quality software, and enforce rigorous testing practices including automated unit tests, integration tests, and other frameworks.
- Design and implement data pipelines to centralize operational data, enabling teammates to access and utilize business information for informed decision making.
- Promote awareness of AI at WellSky by sharing knowledge and providing training on AI solutions and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven ability to liaise with business stakeholders to gain insights into processes and develop tailored data and AI solutions.
- Capacity to learn and implement new technologies for enterprise scale deployment.
- Experience building data pipelines using Python and other data ingestion tools.
