Sr. Software Engineer
Job Description
FreeWheel, a Comcast company, is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to design, build, and support an innovative video advertising platform used across the TV monetization ecosystem. This is a virtual-based role supporting technology for video playback across devices.

Compensation
Annual salary range: USD 141,850 - 212,776.
- Virginia pay range: $141,850.78 - $212,776.16
- Offer details: Comcast intends to offer base pay within this range based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.

Base pay is part of Comcast’s Total Rewards. Eligible roles may include Commission or Bonus depending on position type, and Comcast provides benefits to eligible employees.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements, including performing analysis to determine integration needs.
- Designs new software and web applications; supports applications under development and customizes existing applications.
- Assists with software update processes for existing applications and supports software release rollouts.
- Participates in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.
- Researches, writes, and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports.
- Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products, including reviewing relevant literature, patents, and current practices.
- Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance on practices, procedures, and techniques; serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers.
- Partners with the Quality Assurance team to confirm applications meet specifications and technical requirements.
- Applies in-depth engineering methodologies, design, process design and redesign skills, and presents architectural and technical choices to internal audiences.
- Applies project management skills and exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Maintains consistent, punctual attendance and must be able to work nights and weekends, with variable schedules and overtime as necessary.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or above
- 3 years or above relevant work experience
- Experience with C/C++, DB design, and network programming
- Experience with distributed system software design and mission-critical systems
- Strong demonstrated problem-solving and technical innovation
- Strong passion for learning and practicing new techniques
- Knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and software engineering methodology
- Ability to work closely with global teams, including accepting additional working times beyond normal working hours to collaborate
Preferred / Bonus Skills
- Familiarity with the Open RTB protocol
- Advertising industry experience
