Sr. Principal II Software Engineer

BAE Systems, Inc. in Totowa, New Jersey is seeking a Sr. Principal II Software Engineer to steer the Small Form Factor program, mentor the SFF team, and contribute to software development across the business while advancing the Medium Fidelity Model. This senior leadership role calls for technical excellence in C++, embedded systems, and a demonstrated ability to shape architecture for robust, scalable software in an agile setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the Small Form Factor engineering team
• Analyze system requirements and architect software to satisfy the specifications
• Apply agile practices to plan and deliver a high quality software product
• Promote interoperability and future growth by adopting open architecture principles
• Integrate emerging technologies into existing codebases
• Advance the software architecture of advanced products for greater efficiency and robustness
• Build software environments across multiple operating systems
• Design unit test structures to improve software reliability

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• At least 12 years of software development experience
• Strong proficiency in C++
• Solid understanding of software design patterns, architectural styles, and core software engineering principles
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded systems development
• Experience with UDP and TCP/IP protocols
• Experience with Agile development methodologies
• Experience with software configuration management tools such as Git
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong leadership capabilities

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $153,377 - $260,743 annually
