Job Description

Leidos is hiring a Senior Appian Software Developer to support secure, end-to-end delivery work involving Appian process and integration solutions in a remote setting. This role focuses on hands-on Appian development across interfaces, data/reporting capabilities, and AI-enabled features, alongside API and microservices integration with enterprise and legacy environments.

In this position, you will apply software development lifecycle practices and secure coding principles while working in Agile/Scrum delivery and modern CI/CD workflows. The role also includes platform and modernization support, plus development of custom capabilities using Java.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver complex Appian process models, SAIL (Self-Assembling Interface Layer) interfaces, records, reports, and Appian AI capabilities
  • Develop and design APIs and build robust system integrations using REST/SOAP APIs and microservices, connecting Appian to disparate federal agency databases and legacy systems
  • Support Appian platform upgrades, plugin remediation, or modernization initiatives
  • Implement Appian’s Data Fabric
  • Develop or maintain custom Appian plugins using Java
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer and cross-team collaboration within technical organizations

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience applying software development lifecycle practices and secure coding principles
  • 5+ years of hands-on Appian design and development experience, with active Senior Developer or Lead Developer certifications
  • Experience delivering in Agile/Scrum environments, using CI/CD pipelines and Git/GitLab for source control
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or a Master’s Degree, plus 6 to 10 years of related experience (additional experience may be accepted in lieu of degree)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional Agile teams
  • Experience supporting Appian platform upgrades, plugin remediation, or modernization initiatives
  • Experience implementing Appian’s Data Fabric
  • Experience with data and system migrations from SQL Server or Maria Database
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Docker, or containerized deployment approaches
  • Experience supporting AWS-hosted or cloud-based application environments
  • Exposure to Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms
  • Exposure to Appian AI capabilities, including AI Skills, AI Copilot, AI Document Processing, or other emerging Appian features
  • Experience supporting federal government

Preferred Skills

Location: Remote (remote)

Salary: USD 107,900 - 195,050 per year

Pay Range: $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
