Job Description

Join Draper in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where you will help build machine learning and AI tools that support a wide range of R&D efforts. The Machine Learning Engineer MTS1 role designs and implements machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science capabilities. You will build AI models aligned to project needs, evaluate and improve model performance, and apply machine learning and deep learning to help systems visualize, learn, and respond to complex situations. The position also involves partnering with internal teams and customers to clarify requirements and understand underlying business problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop AI models to satisfy project requirements.
  • Analyze and improve AI model performance over time.
  • Apply ML and deep learning technologies to enable systems that can learn and respond in complex scenarios.
  • Collaborate across departments and with customers to define requirements and understand business problems.
  • Review task-level requirements and assumptions, then work toward solutions for well-defined problems with guidance.
  • Conduct independent and team-based research with guidance.
  • Seek help when needed and use available resources to solve problems efficiently.
  • Deliver on commitments and communicate challenges clearly.
  • Learn about customer missions and incorporate that understanding into your technical work.
  • Work to improve operations at the task and individual contributor level.
  • Identify areas for improvement and bring them to task or group leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ML/AI software development skills using Python, MATLAB, R, C++, or JAVA.
  • Software best practices experience, including version control with git.
  • Team player with strong collaboration skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Security Clearance

Selected applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.

Compensation: USD 62,500 to 140,000 per year (US base salary range) for this full-time onsite position in Cambridge, Massachusetts (02139-3563-3563).
