Job Description
JPMorgan Chase's Corporate & Investment Bank Technology team is seeking a Software Engineer III - Senior Associate to help shape the future of AIOps within a fast-paced financial services environment in Chicago. This onsite role blends software engineering with infrastructure and platform engineering, focusing on designing, building, and maintaining AI-enhanced operations tooling.
Location: Chicago, IL (onsite). Salary: USD 114,000 - 155,000 per year. Education: Bachelor's degree or certification. Minimum experience: 3 years.
Responsibilities
- Develop creative software solutions, participate in design and debugging, and address problems beyond routine approaches to deliver effective outcomes.
- Experience building applications and solutions that leverage large language models and other AI products.
- Produce secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that integrate with relevant systems; review and troubleshoot code written by teammates.
- Lead evaluation sessions with internal teams to probe architectural designs and technical credentials in an outcomes-focused manner.
- Utilize enterprise-approved AI capabilities to accelerate infrastructure analysis, option evaluation, and design documentation, while handling data in accordance with sensitivity and security requirements.
- Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore cutting-edge technologies.
- Gather, analyze, and visualize data from large, diverse data sets to support continuous improvement of applications and systems.
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure software delivery satisfies design constraints.
- Proactively identify hidden issues and data patterns to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Apply reuse-first, AI-assisted practices within delivery and toolchains to identify recurring infrastructure issues and opportunities, ensuring changes are validated and aligned with resiliency and security expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or certification in software engineering concepts plus 3+ years of experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability, with familiarity in open source frameworks such as Spring Boot and a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Proficiency in coding in one or more languages, with hands-on experience building highly scalable, resilient UI microservices using JavaScript (React, React JSON Library) and Java, leveraging messaging systems like Kafka, and developing database objects in cloud-native databases.
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, resiliency, and security, with a focus on automation and continuous delivery.
- Proven ability to apply software engineering practices across technical disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile development.
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code within a large corporate environment using modern programming languages and database query capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support infrastructure architecture workflows, with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
- Ability to assess and validate AI-assisted infrastructure recommendations prior to adoption, ensuring alignment with resiliency, security, and auditability requirements.
