Software Engineer III, Looker Developer Infrastructure and Tooling
Job Description
As a Software Engineer III on Google's Looker Developer Infrastructure and Tooling team, you will help build and maintain the core infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling that support the Looker software development lifecycle, including AI powered agent capabilities. This role combines large‑scale infrastructure work with developer productivity improvements, contributing to a culture that values collaboration, continuous learning, and practical, high‑impact engineering.

Location and compensation
Location: Cambridge, MA onsite.
Salary range: USD 147,000 to 211,000 per year, with a target bonus of 15%, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.
Responsibilities
- Develop product and system software that powers Looker infrastructure
- Engage in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select among available technologies
- Review others' code to enforce best practices, including style, correctness, testability, and efficiency
- Update and expand documentation and educational content, adapting to product updates and user feedback
- Triaging issues, debugging, and resolving problems by analyzing root causes and their impact on hardware, networks, and service operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- At least 2 years of experience developing large‑scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or working with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture
- Experience with CI/CD and build systems
- Experience with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, and Docker
