Software Engineer III - C# / Java
Job Description
The Software Engineer III role is based onsite in Houston, TX, within JPMorgan Chase's Commercial & Investment Bank Global Banking Technology organization. The position focuses on designing and delivering trusted market-leading technology products as an experienced member of an Agile team across multiple technical domains to support the firm's business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Delivers software solutions through design, development, and troubleshooting, applying approaches that extend beyond routine methods to solve complex technical challenges.
- Produces secure, high-quality production code and maintains algorithms aligned with integrated systems.
- Uses enterprise approved AI assisted development tools to enhance code quality, speed, and productivity on complex deliverables, while validating outputs via peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; shares learnings and reusable patterns to boost team effectiveness.
- Utilizes SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI assisted development and automation capabilities, to maximize the impact of automation efforts.
- Creates architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensures code development respects design constraints.
- Gathers, analyzes, and synthesizes data to produce visualizations and reports that support continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and data patterns to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and participates in events exploring new and emerging technologies.
- Supports a team culture grounded in diversity, inclusion, opportunity, and respect.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering with at least three years of practical experience.
- Strong expertise in C# with .Net Core or Java, including Spring Core, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA and relevant microservices frameworks.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and common UI testing frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise authorized AI assisted software development tools for coding, testing, debugging, or documentation, with the ability to critically evaluate and refine AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe usage within team practices.
- Proficiency in Object Oriented Design and Test Driven Development, with hands-on experience in test automation frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Playwright, and Cucumber.
- Experience building cloud native or cloud ready applications using AWS.
- Solid knowledge of security standards including OAuth, TLS, and Kerberos.
- Familiarity with log and metric collection and monitoring tools such as ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, and Splunk.
- Experience with relational databases like Oracle or MS SQL Server and exposure to NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, among others.
- Hands-on experience constructing CI/CD pipelines with Git, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Fortify.
