Software Engineer III - Android Developer
Job Description
This Android software engineer role is based in New York, NY onsite, within JPMorgan Chase's Consumer and Community Banking division. As a senior member of an agile team, you will design and deliver trusted, market-leading technology products and critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas to support the firm's business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Execute software solutions, including design, development, and troubleshooting, with the ability to go beyond routine approaches to resolve complex problems.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that operate in coordination with essential systems.
- Utilize enterprise-approved AI coding assist tools to enhance code quality, delivery speed, and productivity on complex deliverables, while ensuring outputs are peer-reviewed, tested, and aligned with secure coding standards; share learnings and reusable patterns to improve team effectiveness.
- Leverage the software development lifecycle toolchain and AI-assisted development automation to maximize automation value.
- Produce architecture and design documents for intricate applications, and ensure code meets design constraints.
- Collect, analyze, synthesize, and visualize data from large, diverse datasets to drive continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
- Identify hidden data patterns and use these insights to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering plus 3+ years of applied experience, applicable across NAMR/APAC regions including India, LATAM, and Hong Kong.
- Experience in combined software and application development with a focus on mobile development.
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring diverse engineering teams building native mobile applications.
- Strong Android development expertise, including building mobile applications using Kotlin.
- Working knowledge of common architectural patterns, including MVVM, MVP, and MVC.
- Experience with modern native mobile development tools and frameworks, including Git, Xcode, CocoaPods, Swift Package Manager, CoreData, Android Studio, Robolectric, Mockito, Espresso, RxJava, Dagger, and Retrofit.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working in Agile development environments, including daily scrums and iteration reviews/planning.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment, with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
