Software Engineer - Full Stack

eTags.com is seeking a Software Engineer to join its full stack development team in a hybrid role based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This position focuses on designing, building, and optimizing web applications with PHP, CodeIgniter, and AWS deployments. You will contribute across the stack, from backend services to responsive front ends, while collaborating with product, design, QA, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain full stack web applications through design, development, testing, and ongoing refinement.
• Build robust backend services using PHP and CodeIgniter.
• Create and sustain RESTful APIs and integrate with external services.
• Develop responsive front end interfaces that are user friendly.
• Design and optimize databases, including schema planning and performance tuning.
• Deploy, monitor, and manage applications within AWS environments.
• Diagnose and fix issues across the application, server, database, and infrastructure layers.
• Write clean, maintainable, well documented code in line with established standards.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural and technical decisions.
• Enforce application security practices and access controls.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, designers, QA, and fellow developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, including performance optimization and reducing technical debt.

Requirements

• Proficiency in PHP across versions 5.x through 8.x.
• Extensive CodeIgniter experience.
• Strong understanding of MVC architecture and common design patterns.
• Experience building, consuming, and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of authentication and authorization mechanisms, including JWT and OAuth.
• Experience integrating third party APIs and services.
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with responsive design and cross browser compatibility.
• Familiarity with AJAX and jQuery.
• Experience with Vue.js, React, and Angular.
• Strong MySQL and/or MariaDB experience with normalized database design.
• Knowledge of query optimization, performance tuning, indexing, data integrity, and security practices for databases.
• Hands on AWS experience across EC2, RDS, S3, and CloudWatch, plus IAM security practices and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with environment configuration and deployment management, as well as AWS monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Git and modern source control workflows; familiarity with CI/CD and deployment automation.
• Experience working in Linux server environments and general system administration.
• Understanding of application logging and performance monitoring.
