Software Engineer -- Aerospace & Defense

EO Solutions is hiring a Software Engineer to build mission-critical software supporting Space Domain Awareness (SDA) systems in Las Vegas, NV. The role is hands-on across the development lifecycle, combining algorithm work with backend and front-end engineering, and deploying solutions across cloud, on-premise, and edge environments.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with engineers, scientists, and field operators to translate mission needs into production-ready capabilities that are observable, testable, and maintainable.

Role Summary

• Develop and implement mission-critical software for SDA systems, spanning backend/front-end development, algorithm development, and infrastructure automation.
• Build and deploy containerized applications across cloud, on-premise, and edge computing environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement innovative algorithms for tracking, image processing, and data fusion.
• Design and build robust software systems for sensor control and mission operations.
• Prototype and deploy containerized applications to cloud, on-premise, and edge environments.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and field operators to translate mission needs into working software.
• Write and maintain high-quality, well-tested, and observable code with clear documentation.
• Participate in architecture planning, technical discussions, and code reviews to support a scalable codebase.
• Contribute to requirement gathering and refinement with cross-disciplinary stakeholders.
• Operate with self-sufficiency and ownership, managing time and priorities with minimal oversight.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience using Python, C, or C++, and Java.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a technical, multidisciplinary environment.
• Experience developing in both cloud-based and self-hosted (on-premise/edge) environments.
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and messaging technologies such as Kafka, NATS, and RabbitMQ.
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL database design and usage.
• Ability to balance rapid prototyping and production-grade development with sound engineering judgment.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field from a U.S. institution.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with real-world sensor systems (cameras, telescopes, RF sensors).
• Familiarity with astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, or Space Domain Awareness (SDA).
• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation.
• Background in research prototyping, defense systems, or mission-critical deployments.
