Software Engineer 4

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer 4 to support the NMEC DOMEX Technology Platform and the D3P Modernization effort. The role focuses on designing, deploying, and maintaining a full-stack containerized microservices architecture in a mission-focused engineering environment.

Role Focus

You will work on production big data pipeline delivery and ongoing platform modernization using Kubernetes. The position includes operating systems and services that integrate Elasticsearch for search and analytics and Kafka for messaging.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big data pipeline using a microservice architecture on Kubernetes with an Elasticsearch backend and Kafka messaging.
• Enhance and maintain CI/CD and DevOps scripts, processes, and related automation.
• Design, develop, and support scalable, redundant infrastructure across physical and virtualized environments.
• Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments in support of new feature requirements.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, architecture, development, security, operations, and integration teams.
• Participate in Agile release planning, scrum of scrums, bug triage, design sessions, and other related meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a CI Polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the category field.
• Strong proficiency in Linux.
• Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD orchestration and GitLab.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
• Demonstrated success working in cross-functional engineering environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating systems at scale.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
• Development experience with Bash, PowerShell, SAL(T), Python, Groovy, or Java.
• Experience supporting enterprise or production systems.
• Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging systems, Prometheus and Grafana for Kubernetes monitoring, GPU-based Kubernetes, SAL(T) for deployment automation, Helm/Helmfile, and Nexus.
