Software Engineer 2, Mid Market Intelligence

Intuit’s GBSG Mid-Market Intelligence team is seeking a Software Engineer 2 to build the intelligence layer for an AI-native ERP. This onsite role in Mountain View focuses on hands-on delivery across services, data pipelines, and AI-native workflows, including agentic experiences and evaluation.

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer 2, you will help power AI-native product experiences with state-of-the-art AI and agentic technology. The Mid-Market segment is one of the fastest growing areas of the business, and the Intelligence team supports Intuit’s mission to deliver an industry-leading AI-native ERP where agents, automation, and AI-to-human collaboration are designed from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality software for the Mid-Market intelligence platform end-to-end, including requirements, design, code, tests, and documentation across services, data pipelines, and AI-native workflows.
• Build features for AI-native product experiences such as agentic workflows, retrieval (RAG) pipelines, tool and function-calling integrations, and human-in-the-loop patterns, with guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in early quality activities, including peer reviews of estimates, designs, and code.
• Support evaluation of AI-powered features through automated tests, offline evals, and golden datasets.
• Resolve defects found during QA testing, pre-production, production, and post-release through log, metric, and trace-based investigation.
• Monitor launched features using instrumentation and customer signals to confirm expected outcomes.
• Partner effectively with teammates to deliver against commitments and contribute to team success and positive team dynamics.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, design, AI scientists, platform teams, and other business units to drive results.

Hands-On Development Focus

• Maintain a primarily hands-on workflow, with approximately 80-95% coding, using AI-driven development tools and agents.
• Validate AI-generated outputs to the same standards applied to peer code.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with Agile Development and SCRUM methodologies.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of experience developing software applications or services.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals and practical application.
• Strong coding skills in one or more object-oriented languages: Java, Python, or TypeScript.
• Hands-on exposure to Generative AI, such as building with LLM APIs, prompt and context engineering, RAG/retrieval, or agent frameworks via work, internships, or substantial personal projects.
• Proficiency using AI-assisted development tools (coding agents and assistants) as part of daily workflow, with judgment to verify generated results.
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including experience with web services (REST/JSON) and API integrations.
• Knowledge of unit testing and Test Driven Development (TDD).
• Working knowledge of SQL and data fundamentals.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a track record of strong delivery against assigned tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Outstanding partnership skills.

Preferred / Plus

• Production experience is a plus, with genuine fluency and curiosity required.
• Exposure to data processing tools such as Spark or Kafka is a plus.
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP and modern CI/CD practices is a plus.

Compensation

• Expected base pay range: Mountain View $140,500 - $190,000 per year.
• Intuit provides a competitive compensation package with a strong pay for performance rewards approach.
• This position may be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits, based on applicable plans and programs.
