Job Description

GRVTY is hiring a Software Engineer for an onsite role in Chantilly, VA supporting a top project. This position brings together deep software development with systems administration and hands-on integration of cloud and network communication needs. If you hold an active TS/SCI + Polygraph clearance, this is an opportunity to apply your engineering skills in a mission-focused environment.

What you will do

  • Gather mission needs and translate them into technical requirements for Sponsor consideration.
  • Document and communicate mission requirements clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with other technical teams across multiple organizational boundaries to advance mission outcomes.
  • Develop and integrate solutions that address client/server communications and requests, including analyzing browser network traffic to understand how data moves.
  • Integrate and work with cloud services and components, including AWS Lambda and layers, S3, Batch, EC2, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, IAM roles, DynamoDB, and container services.
  • Leverage programming and tooling knowledge across software tools and packages, operating systems, and networking to meet collection needs.
  • Transform data between file formats into common formats such as JSON, CSV, or XML.
  • Analyze unknown software code, extract relevant fields, and determine or mimic its behavior when needed.
  • Build a software testing harness or implement continuous testing methodologies as part of project engineering.

What you bring

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance (including Polygraph).
  • Systems Administration experience.
  • Experience analyzing browser network traffic to understand client/server communications and requests.
  • Experience integrating cloud services including AWS Lambda and layers, S3, Batch, EC2, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, IAM roles, DynamoDB, and container services.
  • Deep experience in software development, backed by a strong programming foundation.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate mission needs into technical requirements for Sponsor consideration.
  • Proven experience documenting and communicating mission requirements for all audiences.
  • Experience working with other technical teams across multiple organizational boundaries.
  • Python experience.
  • Ability to program efficiently (back-end, not UI) in at least one other programming language besides Python or JavaScript.
  • Demonstrated experience installing Linux from scratch and developing complex Unix shell scripts.
  • Demonstrated experience using AWS Cloud Development Kits (CDK). (CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar are not substitutes for CDK experience.)
  • Experience building/implementing a continuous testing methodology or a testing harness.

Nice to have

  • Experience with tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, JADX, or APKtool.
  • Experience with multiple cloud providers.
  • Experience with programming languages beyond Python.

Compensation and benefits

Virginia pay range: $150,000-$250,000.
