Software Engineer

Parsons is offering a full-time Software Engineer opportunity supporting NASA’s SENSE program at the White Sands Complex in Las Cruces, New Mexico (onsite). You’ll contribute to software for satellite communications systems within an Agile environment, helping deliver reliable capabilities to the customer. Compensation

$112,200.00 - $196,400.00 per year

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, implement, test, and document software for high-profile satellite communications systems
• Collaborate with systems engineers and project managers to deliver reliable, high-quality systems to the customer
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
• Use Git and GitLab for source control, code review, branching, merging, and collaborative development
• Use Jira to manage assigned work, update task and issue status, and support backlog and sprint tracking
• Develop unit tests and system and regression test cases
• Contribute to design and code reviews for project and product initiatives
• Assist with prototype and tool development

Requirements

• US citizenship
• Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• Not less than 5 years of related professional experience
• Experience working on a software development team that uses Agile methods
• Experience using Git for version control, GitLab for repository management and collaborative workflows, and Jira for backlog, issue, and sprint tracking

Desired Qualifications

• Proficiency in SQL, Ada, C, C++, Java, and/or LabVIEW
• Familiarity with XML, HTML, Tcl, Python, and shell scripting languages
• Experience with Linux and Windows development environments and tools (including Eclipse and Visual Studio)
• Self-motivated and disciplined, with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Tracking and Data Relay Satellite system experience
• Basic knowledge of computer networking
• DEC Alphas and OpenVMS
• Memory and performance profiling
