Job Description

URSA Industries is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance software systems supporting autonomy and teleoperation. This is an in-person role based in or around Reno, Nevada, working onsite to deliver reliable pipelines and operator tools for robotics operations.

The team’s focus spans the full path from sensor acquisition to operator interfaces and recorded data, with an emphasis on ROS 2 communication, low-latency performance, and efficient handling of camera and LiDAR streams.

What you will do

  • Own the services and infrastructure that support autonomy and teleoperation pipelines, covering sensor acquisition through operator interfaces and data recording.
  • Build and optimize ROS 2 systems to enable reliable, low-latency communication between sensors, autonomy software, and vehicle control systems.
  • Develop high-performance data pipelines to capture, transport, record, decode, and replay camera and LiDAR data.
  • Create operator-facing dashboards and visualization tools for live camera feeds, LiDAR point clouds, vehicle state, GPS, diagnostics, and system health.
  • Design infrastructure for collecting large-scale robotics datasets and making that data accessible for training, evaluation, and debugging.

Key requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience building production-quality systems.
  • Strong Python and/or C++ skills.
  • Experience with ROS 2 and robotic systems.
  • Experience building real-time or high-throughput data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with robotics sensors such as LiDAR, cameras, point clouds, and video streaming.
  • A practical approach that helps work move forward and get completed.
