Job Description

McKesson is seeking a SOE Service Operations Engineering Cloud Architect to design and deliver cloud platforms supporting customer-critical SaaS offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure
  • Lead cloud migration and modernization work for mission-critical SaaS applications
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and security teams to improve platform performance, reliability, and operational efficiency
  • Provide architectural guidance for Java-based applications, containerized workloads, and large-scale database environments
  • Assess and recommend cloud technologies, automation approaches, and engineering best practices
  • Participate in customer-facing technical discussions and support resolution of complex issues
  • Define and promote cloud governance, security, and compliance standards
  • Help drive adoption of AI-enabled tools and capabilities to improve engineering productivity and innovation

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent; typically 4+ years of relevant experience
  • 4+ years designing, building, and implementing software business solutions on cloud platforms
  • Knowledge of architectural techniques and implementations, including Services Oriented Architecture, loosely coupled design, composite application design, and cloud architecture approaches
  • Familiarity with non-functional cloud requirements: security, performance, scalability, maintainability (deployment), reliability, and supportability
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical consultancy environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication; ability to develop and maintain internal and customer-facing technical and procedural documentation
  • Familiarity with high-availability concepts and cloud architectural techniques
  • Understanding of information security and risk management concepts, regulations, and certifications including disaster recovery, PHI, HIPAA, PCI, and related system access control policies and processes
  • Experience architecting cloud solutions on Azure using technologies such as AKS, Docker, Function Apps, Service Buses, and Storage Accounts
  • Experience with AI-related tools such as CoPilot to speed application architecture and software design

  • Experience with large-scale SaaS platforms and complex production environments
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Experience managing large-scale systems or operations projects

Location & Compensation

  • Irving, TX (onsite)
  • USD 106,100 - 176,800 per year

Technical skills

  • Experience designing and supporting cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure, including AKS, Function Apps, Service Bus, and related platform services
  • Strong background with Java applications and enterprise architecture principles
  • Experience with Oracle and large-scale database-driven applications
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration, scripting, and cloud operations
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or Azure Monitor
  • Understanding of security, identity management, disaster recovery, and high-availability design
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, including customers
