Simulation Developer
Job Description
MANTECH is hiring a Simulation Developer in Quantico, VA (onsite) to support the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab’s shift to digital wargaming.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and sustain simulation models and simulation environments using programming languages, tools, and data sources
- Integrate simulation models and simulations into larger system architectures
- Support Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) Wargaming Division efforts, including interoperability testing and model orchestration
- Partner with engineers, analysts, and operational subject matter experts to improve model fidelity and maintain simulation accuracy
- Implement new simulation features, perform model testing and validation, and troubleshoot issues across evolving simulation platforms
- Lead and support planning, coordination, and documentation for simulation projects, including data collection, stakeholder alignment, and capability tracking
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, or a related technical field
- Minimum 7 years of software development experience focused on simulation or game-based environments; 10 years total experience without a degree
- Proficiency with programming languages including C++, C#, Python, or Java
- Experience with simulation platforms or engines: AFSIM, NGTS, OneSAF, Unity, Unreal Engine, Simio, or Arena
- Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative software development workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of modeling and simulation principles in military or operational contexts
- Familiarity with mission engineering, wargaming, campaign analysis, or Naval Capabilities Integration Process (NCIP), and related military systems/processes
- Knowledge of 3D graphics, physics engines, and database management systems (example: SQL)
- Experience using Agile or Scrum development methodologies in simulation projects
- Strong communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Clearance Requirements
- Must possess a current/active TS/SCI security clearance
Physical Requirements
- Ability and willingness to perform occasional manual labor and warehouse duties
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Occasionally move within the office to access file cabinets and office machinery
- Frequently communicate with coworkers, management, and customers, which may include delivering presentations; must be able to exchange accurate information
