Senior Software Engineer (Java) - Pricing

Adyen is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help shape Pricing across all products from Chicago, IL on a hybrid basis. The role focuses on building and evolving pricing components that calculate and apply charges, with an emphasis on Java based services and scalable, contractually accurate pricing data. The annual compensation ranges from USD 180,000 to 243,000, and applicants should bring eight or more years of professional software engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Contribute your perspective on engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with teams across time zones to deliver projects.
• Lead complex technical initiatives from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, and production launch.
• Remain hands on while providing technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
• Identify opportunities to improve the platform for robustness and scalability.
• Develop with scalability in mind, knowing the codebase supports many merchants and shoppers at scale.
• Operate in a fast, iterative environment where early live functionality can impact a broad user base within weeks.

Requirements

• Eight or more years of professional software engineering experience, currently at a Senior Software Engineer level or equivalent.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to varied stakeholders.
• Flexible, collaborative, and detail oriented.
• Experience with large scale distributed systems.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Proficiency in building Java based web services, including REST and SOAP.
• Experience designing performant relational database models in PostgreSQL or similar systems.
• Knowledge of software architecture paradigms such as event driven or message queuing systems.
