Responsibilities
- Design and deploy edge-native software components for decentralized sensing, control, and autonomous grid operations
- Engineer fault-tolerant data synchronization and concurrency control across distributed edge environments
- Build federated data pipelines enabling distributed nodes to collaborate securely without central coordination
- Integrate field data sources including SCADA, PMUs, and DER controllers
- Implement IoT protocols and networks such as LoRa, MQTT, DNP3, and Modbus
- Bridge the gap between simulation environments and live grid operations
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities and federated control frameworks into next generation grid platforms
- Contribute to digital twin design using graph-based and physics-informed modeling
- Support experimentation and prototyping at customer test sites and simulation environments
- Collaborate with data scientists, control engineers, infrastructure specialists, and customers
- Work with systems engineers to align software with physical grid systems
- Partner with product teams to rapidly turn ideas into validated, scalable solutions
Requirements
- Strong scripting and backend skills in MATLAB, Go, Rust, Python (edge/backend) and UI technologies HTML, CSS, TypeScript/React or Angular
- Deep experience with Kubernetes/K3s, Kafka/NATS, MQTT, gRPC, and data/observability tools (Pulsar, InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Hands-on experience with Digital Twin / Simulation modeling using OpenFMB, Modelica, graph-based modeling and AI/ML model algorithms
- Proven work deploying AI/ML models in production environments
- Experience with federated architectures and resilient edge software applied to transmission and distribution
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or computer science and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
