Job Description
Parsons is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead analytics services for a large-scale, globally distributed mission platform. In this role, you will own the design, delivery, performance, and operational evolution of analytics services, with a focus on analytics microservices and analytics/search architecture that must satisfy real-time performance and latency needs.
You will guide the technical direction across search, aggregation, rollups, telemetry analytics, and user-facing visualization services, ensuring the platform remains scalable, observable, and reliable across deployments.
Responsibilities
- Own the analytics services portfolio, including search, aggregations, event rollups, telemetry analytics, and user-facing visualization services
- Lead the design and delivery of Java-based analytics microservices and associated ingestion, indexing, and reporting workflows
- Define indexing, sharding, retention, and query strategies across operational telemetry and business-facing analytics workloads
- Tune and optimize queries and service interactions to meet strict performance and latency requirements in real-time mission workflows
- Ensure analytics microservices remain scalable, observable, and reliable across globally distributed deployments
Requirements
- TS/SCI minimum clearance required
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems, or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree
- 15+ years of software, data platform, search, or analytics engineering experience, including 4+ years owning a major technical service domain
- Strong hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana/Grafana, and Java-based microservices
- Proven ownership of analytics/search architecture across indexing, query design, aggregation patterns, and UI visualization
- Strong troubleshooting skills across ingestion, indexing, query performance, UI layers, and distributed systems

Desired Skills
- Experience with Vue.js 3 or similar frameworks for analytics dashboards
- Experience building analytics or observability solutions in distributed microservices environments
- Experience with telemetry pipelines, distributed tracing, or APM-driven analysis
- Experience optimizing Elasticsearch clusters for mixed workloads (user analytics plus operational telemetry)
- Experience integrating event pipelines or stream processors into analytics workflows
Security Clearance Requirement
- An active Top Secret SCI security clearance is required for this position.
Location and Salary
Location: Virginia (onsite).
Salary range: USD 148,300 - 266,900 per year.
