Senior Software Engineer-AI
Job Description
H&R Block’s AI Platforms Team is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy AI platform services and GenAI capabilities. The role focuses on translating requirements into technical specifications, delivering scalable functionality, and contributing to technical design and code quality through reviews and unit testing.
Role Summary
In this position, you will help build and enhance AI platform services and GenAI features. You will produce technical documentation such as platform requirements and specifications, implement production-ready improvements, and support ongoing technical design and code reviews for enhancements and maintenance work.
Responsibilities
- Translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications and platform requirements.
- Develop new product features using established tools, languages, coding standards, and best practices, while continuously enhancing product functionality.
- Create and run unit tests, and address defects identified during testing and validation.
- Collaborate with teammates to maintain shared understanding of requirements and the engineering approach.
- Build features aimed at improving scalability, usability, resiliency, and performance.
- Support technical design and participate in code reviews for new enhancements and maintenance delivered by the development team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.
- 5+ years of experience building software products and solutions.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience with .NET, REST APIs, Cosmos/SQL server, and Azure.
- Experience working with agile methodologies including SCRUM and/or Kanban.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, including source control management systems and continuous integration and deployment environments.
- Experience developing engineering solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience building AI products and solutions.
- Experience with Azure SignalR service and Azure AI Services.
