Job Description

Delta Dental seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Alpharetta, GA, onsite, to design, develop, and deliver scalable ReactJS and Spring Boot applications, migrate legacy Oracle ADF to modern web technologies, and manage Azure-based cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Build and support products that address complex business use cases, system issues, and operational challenges.
  • Contribute to architectural design, system analysis, and programming activities across application software.
  • Develop production‑level software using sound data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and frameworks that are maintainable, scalable, responsive, and secure.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and implement scalable, high‑performance software solutions.
  • Integrate Oracle ADF and React.js applications with other enterprise systems, APIs, and services.
  • Lead the migration of legacy Oracle ADF applications to modern technologies, with ReactJS on the front end and Spring Boot on the back end.
  • Design and implement new front end interfaces using ReactJS, applying modern UI/UX principles and responsive design.
  • Refactor and migrate Oracle ADF components, task flows, and logic into Spring Boot based services.
  • Develop RESTful web services and back‑end APIs with Spring Boot to support the new ReactJS front end.
  • Connect ReactJS applications to Spring Boot back‑end services via RESTful APIs.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, work with JPA/Hibernate, and integrate with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
  • Utilize Azure DevOps for CI/CD and production monitoring.
  • Implement cloud‑native solutions using Azure App Services, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Functions, and Azure Storage.
  • Apply security best practices when deploying to Azure, including API security, user authentication, and data encryption.
  • Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability of ReactJS and Spring Boot applications in the cloud.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to manage cloud infrastructure, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure system availability.
  • Set up and optimize Git Cloud Actions and automation for deployment pipelines and testing.
  • Integrate Git with Azure to streamline development workflows.
  • Maintain and enhance SOAP services with a pathway toward REST where appropriate, preserving functionality.
  • Design and document APIs using Swagger/OpenAPI to ensure clarity for developers and external systems.
  • Write high quality, scalable, secure code with end‑to‑end ownership from conception to production support and monitoring.
  • Produce clear technical documentation for developed components and foster a culture of thorough documentation.
  • Adopt test‑driven development and continuous delivery practices, leveraging automation where possible.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor other engineers.
  • Work with Engineering leadership, Product Managers, Designers, QA, and other teams to define and prioritize requirements and drive results.
  • Instrument infrastructure and application performance monitoring, capacity planning, alerting, and KPI management.
  • Assess the impact of product upgrades and assist in planning and executing engineering projects.
  • Support and collaborate with fellow engineers through evaluation, design analysis, and development phases.
  • Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures to remain a technical expert while collaborating across teams.
  • Must live within reasonable commuting distance from HQ and be able to appear in the office as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science or a related field, with five years of progressive software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Java, JSON, Hibernate, Spring, and related backend technologies.
  • Front‑end and full‑stack development experience with Angular, React, or Node.js; ability to build dynamic, responsive web applications.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, AWS or Azure, Docker, EC2, and RDS for cloud native development and scalable deployments.
  • Experience building and consuming Web Services (REST and SOAP), Spring Boot, Swagger, and OpenAPI; API design and documentation.
  • Database experience with Oracle, MySQL, or MS SQL; schema design, queries, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with development tools and lifecycle software such as GitHub, SVN, GitLab, Ant, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Splunk, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Jira, Confluence, and Grafana.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe) and related ceremonies.
  • Experience deploying Java applications on Apache Tomcat or WebLogic.

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range is provided as a good faith estimate for new hires. Pay Grade 22 offers a salary of approximately $152,131 per year to $154,200 per year.
