Job Description
This senior software developer role supports Iron EagleX at General Dynamics Information Technology in a hybrid environment based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The position centers on a major application rewrite utilizing Java, the Spring Framework, and cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, with responsibility for the full software development lifecycle and DevSecOps practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise grade applications using Python, Java and the Spring Framework
- Utilize OpenSearch to enable efficient search, indexing, and data retrieval
- Deploy, orchestrate, and manage containerized applications with Kubernetes
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to gather requirements, architect solutions, and deliver clean, maintainable code
- Participate in major application rewrites, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and user friendly
- Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues
- Optimize and enhance existing codebases and workflows
- Contribute to the development of API driven microservices architecture
- Document software designs, development processes, and system functionality
- Apply DevSecOps best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud development methods
- Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve technical issues to maintain high availability and performance
- Support application testing, debugging, and deployment processes
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of software development experience, with strong proficiency in Python, Java, and the Spring Framework
- Experience with Elasticsearch and/or OpenSearch for indexing and search functionalities
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
- Proven ability to develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications in hybrid cloud environments
- Familiarity with modern development practices including CI/CD, Git, and Agile methodologies
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with a self-directed, figure-it-out mindset
- Ability to collaborate effectively in fast paced, dynamic team environments
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non technical stakeholders
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contract requirements
- Education: BS Degree in Computer Science preferred or related field

Salary and Benefit Information
The likely salary range for this position is $110,358 to $149,308 per year. This range is not a guarantee of compensation; actual pay will be determined based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements, and could fall outside this range.
