Senior Software Developer

This senior software developer role supports Iron EagleX at General Dynamics Information Technology in a hybrid environment based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The position centers on a major application rewrite utilizing Java, the Spring Framework, and cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, with responsibility for the full software development lifecycle and DevSecOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise grade applications using Python, Java and the Spring Framework
• Utilize OpenSearch to enable efficient search, indexing, and data retrieval
• Deploy, orchestrate, and manage containerized applications with Kubernetes
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to gather requirements, architect solutions, and deliver clean, maintainable code
• Participate in major application rewrites, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and user friendly
• Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues
• Optimize and enhance existing codebases and workflows
• Contribute to the development of API driven microservices architecture
• Document software designs, development processes, and system functionality
• Apply DevSecOps best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud development methods
• Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve technical issues to maintain high availability and performance
• Support application testing, debugging, and deployment processes

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of software development experience, with strong proficiency in Python, Java, and the Spring Framework
• Experience with Elasticsearch and/or OpenSearch for indexing and search functionalities
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
• Proven ability to develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications in hybrid cloud environments
• Familiarity with modern development practices including CI/CD, Git, and Agile methodologies
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills with a self-directed, figure-it-out mindset
• Ability to collaborate effectively in fast paced, dynamic team environments
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non technical stakeholders
• U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contract requirements
• Education: BS Degree in Computer Science preferred or related field

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $110,358 to $149,308 per year. This range is not a guarantee of compensation; actual pay will be determined based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements, and could fall outside this range.
