Job Description

Motion Recruitment is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for a hybrid role in Worcester, Massachusetts. In this position, you will turn applied AI capabilities into secure, scalable features across the applied AI stack, including generative AI/LLM applications, intelligent search, and agent-based systems.

This role is hands-on and end-to-end: you will design, implement, test, and deliver machine learning solutions that support research workflows, summarization, discovery, and knowledge-based decision making, while building distributed services that can operate reliably across a large enterprise product ecosystem.

What you’ll do

  • Own the technical work as a hands-on engineer, covering design, implementation, testing, and delivery
  • Build AI-powered capabilities for research, summarization, discovery, and knowledge-based decision making
  • Architect distributed machine learning services to perform reliably across a large enterprise product ecosystem
  • Develop and connect retrieval pipelines, model services, agent frameworks, and supporting APIs
  • Collaborate with application, platform, data, and security teams to meet requirements for performance, resilience, privacy, and scale

Key requirements

  • Proven success delivering machine learning or AI systems in production environments
  • Practical experience building applications that use LLMs, AI agents, and tool-driven workflows
  • Knowledge of RAG patterns, embedding models, vector stores, and relevance-focused retrieval techniques
  • Familiarity with operational ML practices, including testing, deployment automation, observability, and model governance
  • Strong Python development skills and solid software engineering fundamentals
  • Experience building cloud-native solutions with AWS and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, engineering, or a closely related field.

Preferred background

  • Exposure to legal technology, enterprise search, publishing, compliance, or another information-dense product domain
  • At least 12 years of software development experience, or 8+ years together with a PhD

Hybrid schedule: This position follows a hybrid schedule based in Worcester, Massachusetts. Candidates must be authorized to work full-time in the United States both now and in the future.
