Job Description

Senior Lead Software Engineer role at JPMorganChase in Plano, TX (onsite) within the AI/ML Data Platform.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing technical guidance to the business, engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Write secure, high-quality production code and review or debug code written by others.
  • Lead the adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish measurable standards for secure coding, peer reviews, and automated testing, while promoting reusable patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
  • Leverage the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain and approved AI-assisted development capabilities to maximize automation value at scale.
  • Define and streamline the release process for new Snowflake features to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations through strategic decisions.
  • Act as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more focus areas.
  • Contribute to the engineering community as an advocate for firmwide SDLC frameworks, tools, and practices.
  • Deliver creative software solutions, engineer robust designs, and troubleshoot complex problems beyond routine approaches.
  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring remediation to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts plus 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, with strong emphasis on Python.
  • Deep understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, resiliency, and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers on compliant usage patterns.
  • Proven experience leading the effective use of enterprise authorized AI-assisted development tools (coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) and setting team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with minimal oversight.
  • Practical cloud native experience on AWS.
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
