Job Description

Onsite in Jersey City, NJ, this Senior Lead Software Engineer role focuses on Python, AWS, and AI/LLM within JPMorganChase's Asset Wealth Management. The position involves shaping architecture, delivering ML and LLM powered solutions, and governing initiatives across enterprise teams, with a annual compensation range of USD 171,000 to 260,000.

Overview

The role combines hands on development with technical leadership to drive secure, scalable software and AI enabled capabilities. It requires collaboration with cross functional partners to align initiatives, accelerate the adoption of common AI capabilities, and deliver impactful outcomes within the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regular technical guidance to the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Develop secure, high quality production code, and review or debug code written by others.
  • Influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations through informed decision making.
  • Act as a function wide subject matter expert in one or more focus areas.
  • Contribute to the engineering community by advocating firmwide frameworks, tools, and SDLC practices.
  • Collaborate with firmwide AI/ML teams, business and product partners, and distributed peers to drive alignment and accelerate adoption of common AI capabilities.
  • Lead hands on architecture and implementation of lighthouse ML and LLM powered solutions.
  • Design and implement scalable data processing pipelines and deploy model inference services.
  • Experiment, develop, and productionize high quality machine learning models, services, and platforms; deploy solutions to public cloud.
  • Promote adoption and governance of AI assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish validation standards and encourage reuse of proven patterns within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
  • Apply knowledge of SDLC tools, including approved AI assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase automation value at scale.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts along with 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Proven experience guiding the effective use of enterprise authorized AI assisted software development tools, with ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security standards; experience coaching senior engineers on compliant usage and controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
  • Extensive knowledge of software applications and technical processes with deep expertise in at least one technical discipline such as cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile technologies.
  • Experience using LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or other models) to solve business problems, including full workflow toolchains with tracing, evaluations, and guardrails.
  • Strong Python programming skills; deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, and statistics.
  • Ability to design independent end-to-end solutions with emphasis on modern architecture, scalability, and security.
  • Expert knowledge of AWS cloud computing platforms.
  • Knowledge of data management including data model design and real time data processing in SQL and NoSQL stores such as Postgres, OpenSearch, and Redis.
  • Proven leadership ability, including generation of new AI/ML ideas and GenAI based solutions; excellent communication with senior technical and business partners.
