Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Mobile + Web) β SaaS Field Operations Platform
Job Description
This senior role focuses on a SaaS field operations platform, balancing ongoing maintenance of a legacy PHP/Laravel stack and native mobile apps with the development of a next-generation Python/Django and React/React Native platform. The position is based onsite in Lakewood, Colorado, with a salary range of USD 60,000 to 140,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Legacy platform (current production): a Laravel 5.8 / PHP 7.4 monorepo supporting multiple web applications (customer-facing permit portal, parking operations, HQ, admin/backend), a Laravel REST API, and native iOS/Android apps
- Infrastructure and deployments: PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, EC2 instances behind an Application Load Balancer, CodePipeline and CodeBuild deployments
- Billing and communications: payment/subscription processing via Authorize.net ARB and transactional email via Postmark
- Operational reliability: bug fixes, incident response, targeted remediation, and controlled feature changes to maintain reliability and compliance while the legacy system is phased out
- Next-gen platform (active build): multi-tenant SaaS ERP for managing distributed field/security personnel, clients, and client properties
- Backend architecture: Django 5.0 with Django REST Framework, django-tenants for schema-based multi-tenancy, Celery for background and scheduled jobs
- Frontend and mobile: React for web, React Native for iOS and Android; field-worker interface includes shift check-ins, offline data synchronization, geofencing, and EXIF/compression handling for photos
- Data and infrastructure: PostgreSQL (Aurora) and Redis (ElastiCache) for caching and queues; AWS components including VPC, ALB, EC2, CodePipeline/CodeBuild/CodeDeploy; JWT-based authentication; service-layer architecture with clear separation between views, serializers, and business logic
Requirements
- Mobile app development experience is required, either native iOS/Android or React Native, with comfort across offline-first patterns, background sync, geolocation, and device permissions (camera, GPS)
- Full-stack capabilities including backend API design (REST), relational database design (PostgreSQL preferred), and frontend web development (React)
- Ability to work across two tech stacks simultaneously (PHP/Laravel legacy and Python/Django modern) without requiring everything to be greenfield
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture is a strong plus (schema-based tenancy, tenant isolation patterns)
- AWS familiarity: EC2, RDS/Aurora, ALB, and CI/CD pipelines (CodePipeline/CodeBuild or equivalents like GitHub Actions or CircleCI)
- Experience with payment/subscription systems (Authorize.net, Stripe, or similar) is a plus due to the legacy ARB-based billing
- Strong independent judgment; capable of handling production systems with legal and compliance considerations in a lone-wolf engineering environment
