Job Description

RealPage, Inc. is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to support the Front Office Screening BI and Data Warehouse team in Richardson, TX. In this onsite role, you’ll take ownership of SQL Server–based reporting, ETL workflows, and data warehouse code, with a focus on reliable delivery, measurable performance, and auditable change management.

You’ll work across the stack of warehouse and reporting development, designing and maintaining SSIS/SSRS/T-SQL solutions while ensuring data quality standards are upheld. The team also uses AI-assisted development to speed up day-to-day authoring, review, and troubleshooting.

What you’ll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain SSIS packages (Visual Studio 2019+) to load transactional and reference data into the reporting warehouse.
  • Design, build, and enhance SSRS reports (.rdl), with performance in mind.
  • Write and optimize T-SQL objects including stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers using the team’s templates and naming conventions.
  • Diagnose and resolve production data and report issues raised via Service Requests and Defects, performing root cause analysis and delivering durable fixes.
  • Tune query and package performance through indexing strategy, execution plan analysis, batching, partitioning, and ETL throughput improvements.
  • Model and evolve relational schemas (dimensions, fact tables, staging, source-of-truth structures) to add reporting capabilities without breaking existing consumers.
  • Manage environment and configuration changes (such as server moves and connection updates) safely across Dev, QA, and Prod.
  • Review pull requests in Azure DevOps, enforce SQL/SSIS standards, and protect downstream report contracts.
  • Partner with QA and Business Analysts to validate report output against business expectations and historical data.
  • Maintain auditability and traceability for data, ETL packages, and report changes.
  • Mentor junior data/report engineers and contribute to internal documentation, templates, and onboarding materials.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate T-SQL authoring, SSIS package review, report changes, troubleshooting, and test data generation.

What you bring

  • 7+ years of professional experience building and supporting production Data Warehouse, ETL, and Reporting systems.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including stored procedures, functions, CTEs, window functions, performance tuning, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
  • Strong hands-on experience authoring and maintaining SSIS packages in Visual Studio (2017/2019 or later), including control flow, data flow, parameterization, configurations, error handling, and deployment.
  • Strong experience designing and maintaining SSRS reports (.rdl) including datasets, parameters, expressions, subreports, and rendering for operational and customer-facing use.
  • Solid relational data modeling skills for OLTP staging and warehouse/reporting structures, including comfort working in a large existing schema with many downstream dependencies.
  • Experience operating in a regulated environment with change control, segregation of duties, and audit evidence requirements.
  • Comfort delivering via ticket-driven Kanban (Service Requests, Defects, User Stories) and managing changes through PR-based workflows in Azure DevOps / GitHub.
  • Strong analytical and root-cause analysis skills for production data issues, including the ability to interpret complex real-world data.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding, specifically Claude Code, for authoring/reviewing T-SQL, navigating large SSIS/SSRS codebases, generating and validating test data, drafting documentation, and troubleshooting production issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including translating business and compliance requirements into precise data changes.
