Job Description

Wintrust Financial Corporation offers a hybrid Senior Data Engineer role in Rosemont, IL, with some telecommuting flexibility and the requirement to physically be in the office once a week. This position is focused on building and improving complex, enterprise-grade data systems and pipelines, with eligibility to earn an annual bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and continuously improve complex data systems.
  • Build processes that support data transformations, data structures, metadata, dependencies, and workload management.
  • Ensure data governance policies are followed by implementing and validating data lineage, quality checks, and classification.
  • Support and enhance Daily/Monthly ETL/ELT processes to maintain business continuity, ensuring all related pipelines meet best-in-class standards and deliver high performance.
  • Create enterprise data sets that enable analytics and support data scientist workflows for advanced analytics.
  • Develop Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Models for data solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement by automating manual work and optimizing data delivery.
  • Analyze requirements and create technical specifications and detailed level design documents.
  • Serve as a resource for escalated issues, and analyze/design specifications for less experienced team members.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement best-in-class data processing solutions, including data modeling, data loading, data delivery, data availability, performance, and security.
  • Participate across the Data Enablement lifecycle and mentor less experienced team members as needed.
  • Design and build end-to-end data pipelines for ODS, Staging, Data Warehousing and Data Marts, MDM, including middleware integrations.
  • Process semi-structured and unstructured files using traditional SQL and modern object-oriented scripting languages such as Python.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines for data pipelines using Azure DevOps.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s-level education as specified below, plus relevant experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, Math, or a related field, plus 7 years of experience in a related occupation.
    • As an equivalent alternative, Master’s degree in the same fields, plus 5 years of experience in a related occupation.
  • 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, including designing and implementing data persistence, data processing, and data integration.
  • 5 years of experience designing and building complete data pipelines moving and transforming data for ODS, Staging, Data Warehousing, and Data Marts.
  • 5 years of experience processing semi-structured and unstructured files using Microsoft SSIS and SQL.
  • 3 years of experience with medium-scale data and query optimization techniques.
  • Experience with Data Warehouse concepts, including 3NF and the Dimensional data model.
  • Experience implementing and validating data lineage, quality checks, and classification.
  • Experience creating, enhancing, and supporting ETL/ELT processes to ensure business continuity, meet best-in-class standards, and deliver high performance.
  • Experience analyzing requirements and preparing technical specifications and detailed level design documents.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines for data pipelines using Azure DevOps.

Compensation & Location
