On site in Clearwater, Florida, this Senior Data Engineer role blends hands-on development with leadership of a small data team and guidance on AI tooling. You will shape production pipelines, cloud databases, and reporting, driving reliability across the full data lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a two-person team: a Data Engineer and a Data Validation Analyst
  • Set technical direction and standards for pipelines, data modeling, and data quality
  • Prioritize and assign work across the team, balancing new development with operational reliability
  • Review code, SQL, and validation outputs; provide guidance to ensure quality
  • Establish data quality checks and validation workflows, ensuring issues are tracked and resolved at the source
  • Serve as the escalation point for data issues, driving root-cause analysis and durable fixes
  • Coach the team on effective use of AI tooling in daily workflows
  • Communicate technical status, risks, and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Own and evolve production pipelines powering e-commerce order processing across the full data lifecycle: API integration, ETL design, SQL modeling, orchestration, and operational reliability
  • Design, build, and optimize database schemas and data models across CloudSQL and BigQuery
  • Maintain and create ETLs that connect to external APIs and internal systems
  • Develop and own API integrations that bring data from sales channels and ERP into the internal database
  • Manage GCP data infrastructure, including CloudSQL, BigQuery, and VM cron job scheduling
  • Build and maintain CI/CD and automation using GitHub Actions and YAML workflows
  • Manage channel and order integrations (order ingestion into CloudSQL, pushing orders into the ERP, tracking-number automation) and improve them over time
  • Maintain security best practices, including IAM authentication across databases and tooling
  • Connect data pipelines to Google Sheets, Excel, and the broader Google Workspace for reporting
  • Support and maintain reporting dashboards (Looker Studio / Power BI)
  • Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues promptly, and implement lasting solutions

Requirements

  • 4+ years in data engineering or a closely related role with ownership of production data pipelines
  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform: CloudSQL, BigQuery, and VM cron job scheduling
  • Advanced SQL, including schema design, data modeling, query optimization, and debugging
  • Proficiency in Python (including Google Colab) for ETL, automation, and data processing
  • Experience building and maintaining API integrations
  • Familiarity with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and YAML-based CI/CD workflows
  • Working knowledge of Linux and shell scripting
  • Experience designing and optimizing relational database schemas (PostgreSQL/MySQL)
  • Comfort using AI tools (Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, NotebookLM, etc.) as part of daily work
  • Experience integrating data with Google Sheets, Excel, Power Query, and Google Workspace
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Looker Studio, Power BI)
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a quick learner
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Local to the Clearwater, FL area and comfortable working in an in-office setting
