Senior Biometric Software Engineer
Job Description
Athena Sciences Corporation is seeking a seasoned biometric software engineer to join a team of biometric system developers supporting the Department of Homeland Security Office of Biometric Identity Management. The role centers on building, deploying, and sustaining mission-critical biometric applications, leveraging Java and GoLang in a hybrid work setup based in Rosslyn, Virginia.
Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical applications using Java and GoLang.
- Provide technical guidance throughout concept, development, and implementation phases to translate requirements into working solutions; collaborate with users to define scope and objectives and contribute to design decisions.
- Contribute to new development and re-engineering efforts, including making system design decisions.
- Implement enhancements, coordinate with other developers, and perform QA/testing as needed.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship
- DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10+ years of development experience
- Experience with GoLang and Java programming languages
- Experience with Spring Boot
- Experience with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Maven
- Experience with relational databases
- Experience with Docker, AWS administration, Red Hat/OpenShift v4.x
- Experience with Agile development methodology
- Knowledge of end-to-end fully automated CI/CD pipelines
