SAP ABAP Lead Developer

Fortuna BMC is seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Lead Developer to guide development efforts and provide technical direction for SAP-based solutions that align with core business processes. This hybrid role combines hands-on ABAP work with leadership responsibilities, operating in a remote-friendly environment with on-site collaboration in Sacramento as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead SAP ABAP development initiatives, including configuration changes, enhancements, and code customizations.
• Ensure SAP technical solutions reflect the organization's business processes and operational requirements.
• Review requirements, support design activities, develop ABAP code, troubleshoot issues, and assist with testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with business users, IT teams, project leadership, and client stakeholders to define and deliver effective SAP solutions.
• Maintain documentation, follow development standards, and support quality, compliance, and reporting expectations.
• Provide lead-level guidance, technical oversight, and mentorship to development team members as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum five years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, including configuration changes, enhancements, and code customization.
• Hands-on experience with SAP ABAP development, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
• Bachelor's degree in an IT-related or Engineering field, or equivalent qualifying experience substituted on a year-for-year basis.
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, documentation, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
• At least five years of experience aligning IT systems with organizational business processes, including a minimum of three years in a lead role.
• Ability to provide at least two professional references for submission.

What You’ll Do
