Job Description
The Senior Python Lead Software Engineer for Fixed Income Systematic Portfolios operates within JPMorgan Chase's Asset and Wealth Management division, designing and delivering production systems that support portfolio optimization and performance insights.

Salary: USD 171,000 - 260,000 per year

Responsibilities
- Leads the development of core systematic portfolio tooling, transforming quantitative research and portfolio requirements into robust production systems.
- Collaborates with portfolio managers and quantitative researchers to create optimization, risk/exposure, and performance-insight workflows that stakeholders can act upon.
- Drives end-to-end automated workflows spanning data ingestion, analytics, execution, and controls, elevating reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Provides ongoing technical guidance to the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Develops secure, high-quality production code and conducts reviews and debugging of others' code.
- Promotes and governs AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while defining validation standards and encouraging reuse of proven patterns within the SDLC toolchain.
- Utilizes the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development capabilities, to maximize automation value at scale.
- Influences product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes through strategic decisions.
- Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in designated focus areas.
- Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide SDLC frameworks, tools, and practices.
- Influences peers and project decision-makers to adopt leading-edge technologies where appropriate.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering with at least five years of hands-on experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
- Advanced Python development experience.
- Ability to work independently on design and functionality problems with minimal supervision, balancing speed, rigor, and risk.
- Practical cloud-native experience, including building, deploying, and operating services with strong observability and resilience.
- Experience with systematic investing or quantitative analytics workflows, including working with market or portfolio datasets and delivering performance and risk insights for stakeholders.
- Familiarity with portfolio optimization concepts and tooling, including commercial solvers, and the ability to productionize research prototypes into scalable services; working knowledge of notebooks and performance-focused compute patterns (parallel and asynchronous processing).
- Proven experience leading the use of enterprise-approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security requirements; experience coaching senior engineers on compliant usage patterns and controls.
- Educational background in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
