Principal Software Engineer - Continuous Identity
Job Description
The Principal Software Engineer role in CrowdStrike’s Continuous Identity product group focuses on building and scaling self-service identity security and real-time threat detection capabilities. This position combines hands-on architecture with engineering leadership to deliver platforms that process petabytes of continuous telemetry at global scale.
Role Summary
As a Principal Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of identity-focused security systems within the Continuous Identity team. The work includes owning core platform architecture for data processing pipelines, driving engineering excellence across a cloud product software engineering organization, and enabling advanced, real-time analysis of identity relationships.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and scale an identity data platform processing petabytes of continuous telemetry and behavioral data.
- Promote a platform-centric engineering approach by influencing architecture across team and organizational boundaries.
- Build and optimize query engines for identity telemetry and policy decisions, including scalable distributed architectures and high-performance data storage frameworks (such as identity graphs).
- Create new analysis methods that help internal stakeholders and customers extract real-time insights from complex identity relationships efficiently.
- Improve code quality by championing advanced testing practices and incorporating agentic development processes and modern AI tools to strengthen team velocity and coding standards.
Requirements
- 15+ years of software engineering experience with a B.S. in a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3+ years of heavy coding experience in Go, Java, Scala, Kotlin, or another compiled language.
- Strong production experience with both relational SQL and NoSQL databases, such as Neo4j, Postgres, Cassandra, and DynamoDB, for complex relationships and temporal data.
- Proven mastery of algorithms, distributed systems design, and cloud-native application development.
- Proven experience using AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and support business outcomes.
- Exceptional collaboration and leadership capabilities, including a record of driving technical alignment across distributed, remote-first teams.

Location and Salary
Sunnyvale, CA (onsite). Salary range: USD 229,000 - 412,000 per year.
