Principal Software Engineer - Backend & AI Infra

CVector - Industrial AI is building industrial intelligence, and you can help shape the backend foundations that make it reliable and scalable. This Principal Software Engineer role supports a mission-critical mix of time-series data systems, AI-assisted analytics, and cloud infrastructure, with clear influence over how intelligence is embedded into industrial energy workflows. You will work in a New York, NY (hybrid) environment with compensation ranging from USD 150,000 - 175,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Evolve CVector’s core backend platform that powers both customer-facing applications and internal modeling platforms.
• Build and improve systems across time-series data, AI-assisted analytics, cloud infrastructure, and data ingestion pipelines.
• Take ownership of complex systems from design through ongoing operation.
• Drive major technical migrations to ensure the platform keeps improving over time.
• Shape how intelligence is embedded into industrial energy workflows.
• Collaborate closely with product, modeling, and frontend engineers to align platform capabilities with business needs.
• Influence platform direction, reliability, and long-term scalability.

Requirements

• 10+ years experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Experience building and maintaining multiple generations of distributed systems.
• Awareness of current developments in agentic system design, with interest in growing a leading-edge system of your own.
• Evidence of having left a technical impact in a relevant area, with motivation to do so again.

Tech stack

The current technology stack includes Python, TypeScript, Supabase, PostgreSQL, MQTT, TigerData, AWS, and GitHub-based CI/CD workflows.
