Job Description

Unity Technologies is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with a focus on Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps to help design, operate, and improve infrastructure that supports reliable and scalable systems. This role emphasizes availability and performance, automation of operational workflows, and technical leadership across engineering teams.

Role Overview

The Principal Software Engineer will build and maintain infrastructure systems that enhance service reliability and operational efficiency. The position also involves leading efforts to reduce incidents through strong automation, monitoring, and well-defined response and recovery practices. Collaboration with software engineering and infrastructure teams is central to the work, along with mentoring engineers on infrastructure standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure
  • Lead efforts to improve system availability and performance
  • Automate deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows
  • Develop incident response and disaster recovery strategies
  • Collaborate with software engineering and infrastructure teams
  • Mentor engineers and establish technical best practices

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in software engineering, SRE, or DevOps
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and distributed systems
  • Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and monitoring tools
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming languages
  • Excellent technical leadership and problem-solving skills

Compensation
