Principal Software Engineer
Job Description
Relias US is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to operate as the top technical authority across multiple engineering teams. In this onsite role based in Morrisville, North Carolina, you will shape architectural and strategic direction while helping teams apply advanced cloud and microservices practices.
Role Summary
This position focuses on driving technological excellence and innovation across the organization. You will influence strategic decisions, set technical direction, and ensure integration of modern engineering practices grounded in deep experience with cloud platforms including Azure and GCP, as well as microservices architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Leadership: Design and oversee microservices architecture implementations, supporting scalability, resilience, and alignment with business goals.
- Technical Expertise: Act as a technical authority and mentoring resource for engineers at all experience levels.
- Innovation and Strategy: Lead evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies and practices that improve innovation and competitive outcomes.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product management, operations, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Code Quality Assurance: Maintain high code quality through rigorous code reviews and adherence to software development best practices.
- Process Improvement: Identify and drive initiatives to enhance development processes, tooling, and methodologies, supporting a culture of excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years developing software, including 6+ years with modern object-oriented languages (C# preferred), and 3+ years as a technical lead or senior software engineer guiding a team.
- Cloud: 4+ years working in cloud environments (Azure strongly preferred).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
- Azure Certification: Microsoft AZ-900: Azure Fundamentals (if not current, must be obtained within the first 60 days of the start date).
- AI Certification: AI-200: Azure AI Cloud Developer Associate (if not current, must be obtained within the first 6 months of the start date).

Location and Onsite Requirements
- North Carolina residency required, within commutable distance to the office.
- Expected to work at the Morrisville, NC Headquarters approximately 30 days per quarter.
Compensation
Salary range: USD 15,000 - 180,000 per year.
