Job Description

DNS Solutions Inc. seeks a hands-on Power BI Delivery Lead and Associate Manager based in Chicago with a hybrid work arrangement. The role centers on designing, building, and delivering scalable BI solutions within Power BI and the Microsoft data ecosystem, available as a contract/consultant engagement or a full-time W2 position.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end design and deployment of Power BI dashboards, enterprise semantic models, and reporting solutions.
  • Architect scalable tabular data models using Azure Analysis Services, Power BI datasets, and Fabric semantic models.
  • Champion best practices in data modeling, star schema design, DAX optimization, report performance, and scalable BI delivery.
  • Supervise complex DAX calculations, time intelligence, business logic, and enterprise reporting standards.
  • Collaborate across the Microsoft Azure and Fabric ecosystem, including ADF, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, Lakehouse, OneLake, Direct Lake, and Real-Time Analytics.
  • Lead integration of Power BI with enterprise applications via Power BI Embedded, REST APIs, and automation workflows.
  • Manage and mentor Power BI developers and analysts, delivering technical guidance, code reviews, and design oversight.
  • Own delivery timelines, sprint planning, effort estimation, documentation standards, and release management.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into analytics solutions and present insights to senior leadership.
  • Establish and enforce BI governance frameworks, covering data quality, metadata, lineage, access control, security, and compliance.
  • Define and implement CI/CD practices, deployment pipelines, version control, and capacity management for Power BI Premium and Fabric environments.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of BI and analytics experience with strong hands-on Power BI expertise.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power BI Premium/Fabric, DAX, Power Query (M), and enterprise semantic modeling.
  • Solid SQL skills, relational databases, data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and Lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience with Azure data platform tools such as ADF, Synapse, Data Lake, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Proven ability to implement data security, governance, compliance, access controls, RLS/OLS, and data quality standards.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and documentation standards.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead teams, manage delivery, mentor developers, and liaise with senior business stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, executive presence, problem solving, and stakeholder management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent experience.

Compensation

  • Contract / Consultant engagement at approximately $85 per hour, depending on experience.
  • FTE W2 base salary range of $155,000 to $208,000 per year, depending on leadership scope and technical depth.
  • The posting notes an annual pay range of $170,000 to $208,000 per year.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Own delivery of medium to large BI programs.
  • Balance hands-on Power BI development with leadership and delivery management.
  • Drive governance, scalability, best practices, and reporting strategy across BI initiatives.
  • Act as the bridge between business stakeholders, data engineering, analytics, and executive leadership.
  • Contribute to the BI roadmap and enterprise analytics capability building.
