Job Description

TEKsystems is looking for a Power BI Developer for a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Appleton, WI. In this fully onsite role, you will design, develop, and optimize Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions, partnering across analytics and IT to support teams across Sales, Finance, and Manufacturing.

Role overview

This position focuses on building and improving semantic models, measures, and visuals using data sourced from an Azure Data Lake. You will translate business requirements into technical builds and help ensure dashboards scale, perform reliably, and remain aligned to business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards.
  • Build and optimize DAX measures for performance and accuracy.
  • Ensure dashboard scalability, usability, and alignment to business needs.
  • Partner with Business Analysts to translate requirements into technical builds.
  • Work with the IT Data Team to integrate curated datasets from the Azure Data Lake.
  • Support performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of BI tools.
  • Stay current with Power BI best practices, features, and industry trends.
  • Transform curated data from the Azure Data Lake into semantic models, measures, and visuals that drive decision-making across Sales, Finance, and Manufacturing.
  • Partner closely with finance, manufacturing, sales, and IT to help ensure reliable, governed data pipelines.
  • Use an Azure Data Lake with a sales semantic model, operations semantic model, and finance semantic model to pull data.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in BI development, dashboard design, or reporting.
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI, DAX, and data modeling.
  • Solid SQL skills for querying and validating data.
  • Experience with performance tuning and dashboard optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or B2B environments is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr. TEKsystems also offers medical, dental & vision coverage, critical illness, accident, and hospital benefits, and a 401(k) retirement plan with pre-tax and Roth post-tax contribution options.
